Student Employment in the BU Libraries

Students provide essential assistance in all departments of the Libraries. Recognizing the value of student employees, the Libraries provide competitive wages and opportunities for annual increases based on job performance. Guidelines for Library student employees are available in the Library Student Employment Handbook. Returning student workers should contact their former supervisor to make arrangements for returning to work.

Online applications go directly to supervisors who are individually responsible for hiring their own students. If you are not hired in the department of your choice, you will automatically be considered for employment in other Library departments. Annex Student Assistant (undergraduate position)

You must have Federal Work Study funding to apply for this job.

Duties:

Skills: Attention to detail. Bending, stretching, squatting, walking up and down a multi-step double hand rail ladder, lifting and carrying loads up to 30 lbs, and pushing loaded book trucks are required to accomplish daily routines.

Hours: Weekday hours: Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

The Library Annex is located in Broome Corporate Park, Conklin, NY. It is approximately 10 miles from the BU campus and a student assistant would need to have their own personal transportation.

Circulation Assistant (undergraduate position)

Duties:

Skills: Good communication skills and enjoy working with the public, familiar with computers and the online catalog, InfoLINK, must be prompt and dependable

Hours: 10 hours per week, Sunday 11am - 9pm

Skills: Must be detail oriented, accurate and able to work independently. Must be able to bend, stretch, lift and push loaded book trucks.
