Copyright
Law in the Electronic Environment (Faculty)

Copyright Management Center
This site represents the Copyright Management Center at IUPUI which
is directed by Dr. Kenneth Crews, a Professor in the School of Law,
as well as in the School of Library and Information Science. One of
the features of this site is the Indiana University Online Copyright
Tutorial for "anyone who wants to learn to work with copyright
while maintaining focus on academic goals."
Copyright Renewal Database
This database from Stanford Unversity has U.S. copyright renewal records for books whose copyrights were renewed between 1950 and 1992. The renewal records are for books published between 1923 and 1963.
Creative Commons
Creative Commons is a non-profit organization that promotes a voluntary "some
rights reserved" model of copyright. The site includes a searchable
database of audio, images, text, video, and other formats that are free
to share online, as well as tools for authors who wish to publish their work
with "some rights reserved."

TEACH Toolkit from NCSU
The TEACH Act updates copyright law as it relates to transmissions of performances
and displays of copyrighted materials over computer networks.

UT System Crash Course in Copyright
A "just-the-facts" approach to copyright. Simple definitions can
easily be understood by non-lawyers. This site also has links to other sources
of copyright information.
U.S. Copyright Office Home Page
This is where it all begins, the home page of the U.S. Copyright Office at
the Library of Congress. There are answers to frequently asked questions,
texts of copyright bulletins, copyright basics, and much more. However, don't
look for interpretations or guidelines here. This is just the law as it stands.

Copyright Clearance Center, Inc. Online
(CCC)
The CCC, a not-for-profit organization created at the suggestion of Congress,
was established by authors, publishers and users as the not-for-profit Reproduction
Rights Organization (RRO) for the United States. The CCC operates collective
licensing systems that facilitate compliance with the copyright law by providing
authorized users a lawful means of making photocopies from more than 1.75
million titles.
