Media
News Sources
The BU Libraries subscribes to the print version of El Pais, Spain's major daily newspaper, and you can also connect to it from the Libraries' News web site. Be aware that the web version differs from the print, which is the case in all media that have both print and electronic versions. The web version may not carry the same article and you are very restricted in searching past, or archival, issues and even the details of current stories.
The LEXIS-NEXIS database also covers El Pais beginning with 1996 and offers indexing, which means you can search. From the LEXIS-NEXIS home page, click on "Guided News Research" and then choose "Non-English Language" as your News Category and then "Spanish Language" as your News Source. Click on "Source List" to see all the Spanish-language publications covered by the database. Remember to use Spanish terms to search. For example, a search on "indians" has only 3 results; a search on "indios": turns up 333 articles.
An excellent web site for current coverage (last 2 months) is maintained by the World News Network. You can search its sources, which include print and media broadcasts, by specific language.
News and Newspapers Online link to many newspapers, arranged by country and then alphabetical by city. Many of them have a regional focus.
A site called AllYouCanRead lists Spanish-language magazines by category. The Libraries also subscribe to two print Spanish-language weekly news pagazines. Cambio 16, from Spain is kept for 3 months; Siempre! from Mexico is retained and bound.
