Media

News Sources

The BU Libraries subscribes to the print version of Corriere della Sera, Italy's major daily newspaper, and you can also connect to the electronic version from the Libraries' News web site. Be aware that the web version differs from the print, which is the case is all media that have both print and electronic versions. The web version may not carry the same article and you are very restricted in searching past, or archival, issues.

The LEXIS-NEXIS database also covers a few Italian language news sources and offers indexing, which means you can search. From the LEXIS-NEXIS home page, click on "Guided News Research" and then choose "Non-English Language" as your News Category and then "Italian Language" as your News Source. Click on "Source List" to see all the Italian-language publications covered by the database. Remember to use Italian terms to search.

A site called AllYouCanRead lists Italian language magazines by category, and an academic site called News and Newspapers Online has an extensive listing of national and regional newpapers from Italy. See also the listing at Giornali.it.

Radio & Television

A site called COMFM has listings of Italian radio and tv stations with webstream broadcasts. Note the specific software needed to listen/view. The Italian Communications Network (ICN), based in New York, has a well-organized site with a mix of news and music programming.

Cinema

Try the extensive links from the Italian Studies Web: Cinema, which includes links to a number of Italian sites, such as Cinecittà and Cinemaitaliano. Another site has an excellent overview of Italian cinema, that includes an extensive bibliography of printed material.

And the Internet Movie Database, in English, is very comprehensive.

Culture, in General

Italy's Ministero per i Beni e le Attività Culturali includes many links to current cultural events and to the archaeology of the past as well.

The Italian Embassy in the United States has a site with numerous relevant links.

And, of course, major cities like Rome and Florence have their very own sites.
