Web site of the NYS Office of the Comptroller that contains Comprehensive Annual Financial Statements and monthly reports going back to 2002. Also contains a Summary of Annual State Spending and Receipts back to 1999.

New York State Executive Budget
Contains full current budget with updates, governor's address, agency presentations, appropriation bills, press releases.
Archives portion of the Division of the Budget contains past budgets back to 1999.

Online access through the GPOAccess web site contains the all current U.S. budget publications, analytical perspectives, historical tables, and the past years Economic Report of the President. Can search previous budgets back to 1996.

Congressional Budget Office
The CBO assists the House and Senate Budget Committees, and the Congress by preparing reports and analyses on the budget outlook, budgetary proposals, and analyzes specific policy and program issues related to the budget. Web site contains full-text online publications including reports, briefs, letters, and testimony.

This is a non-partisan public policy research unit of the U. S. Congress that produces thousands of public policy reports. General Accounting Office (GAO)
"Congressional watchdog" agency that advises Congress and Executive departments and agencies; evaluates federal programs, audits federal expenditures, issues legal opinions, and recommends actions to Congress.

Joint Economic Committee of the U.S. Congress
Web site contains the JEC's majority reports on economic policy issues such as the IMF, tax reform, the federal budget, Federal Reserve policy, and the size of government, press releases, hearings, and more.

Office of Management and Budget (OMB)
OMB assists in in the development and resolution of all budget, policy, legislative, regulatory, procurement, e-gov, and management issues on behalf of the President.OMB Locator Service finds public documents.

Social Statistics Briefing Room
Web page from the White House which provides easy access to federal statistics on crime, demography, education, and health. Data is maintained and updated by the statistical units of those Federal agencies.

This publication codifies the regulations first published in the Federal Register. Contains the f ull-text of all current rules regulations issued by the administrative agencies and regulatory bodies. Arranged by 50 titles; all can be searched (back to 1996) by keyword through GPO Access. Binghamton Libraries keep the latest print edition only of each volume in the Government Documents Room as a non-circulating item.

Congressional Universe (Lexis-Nexis)
Provides access to information and publications by and about the U.S. Congress, including bills, laws, hearings, prints, reports, documents, the Federal Register, the Code of Federal Regulations, United States Statutes at Large, the Congressional Record, the National Journal, and Congress Daily. It also includes an index of congressional publications since 1970, legislative histories, testimony from hearings, bill tracking, and information about members of Congress, their voting record and campaign finance data.

Federal Register
Bartle Library Current Periodicals and Microfilm
Daily publication of the U.S. government which announces new government rules and regulations and proposed rules and changes. Index is issued monthly. Online version through GPO Access is searchable by keyword or topic from 1995 to present.
Current print issues are shelved in Current Periodicals as "United States. Federal Register" until the microfilm is received. Microfilm begins with v. 29 (1964).

THOMAS: Legislative Information on the Web (1973-present)
U.S. Congress web site for disseminating legislative information including, bills (text, summary & status), roll call votes, public laws, debates (full text of Congressional Record), hearings, committee information, summary of congressional activity, historical documents, and more.

Can search the U.S. Code from 1994 to the present through GPO Access.

Chief Financial Officer's Council
Organization of the CFOs and Deputy CFOs of the largest Federal agencies, senior officials of the Office of Management and Budget and the Department of the Treasury who work collaboratively to improve financial management in the U.S. Government.

Governing 2005 Sourcebook

Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA)

National Association of Counties
Comprehensive directory and collection of links to local government information. The links under "About Counties" contains demographic and other information on all U.S. county governments.

National Association of Regional Councils
Professional association of regional councils, regional planning and development agencies, and metropolitan planning organizations. Web site contains some reports and policy statements and links to agencies and nonprofits dedicated to regional planning issues.

National Association of State Budget Officers
Professional association of the state budget officers of the 50 states and U.S. territories.. Web site includes publications, policy statements, reports, directories, and more.

National Conference of State Legislatures
Bipartisan organization that provides research, technical assistance and opportunities for policymakers to exchange ideas on state issues. It advocates for the interests of state governments before Congress and federal agencies.

National Governors Association
An organization of the state governors and their senior staff members that provides help with federal/state issues and programs. Web site has many issues briefs, policy statements, and other documents. The Center for Best Practices focuses on state innovations and best practices on a variety of issues such as education, health, technology, welfare reform, and the environment.

National League of Cities
Oldest and largest national organization representing municipal governments in the U. S. "Its mission is to strengthen and promote cities as centers of opportunity, leadership, and governance." Web site contains research reports, briefs, conferences, and a comprehensive list of policy issues facing metropolitan areas with links to examples, publications, programs and services, research and analysis, and more.

United States Conference of Mayors
Official nonpartisan organization of cities with populations of 30,000 or more, to promote the development of effective national urban/suburban policy, strengthen federal/city relationships, and ensure that federal policy meets urban needs. Web site contains legislative information, policy statements, resolutions passed, press releases, and more.

Urban Institute
Research organization founded in the 1960s to study and analyze the problems facing America's cities. Research reports are shared with policymakers, program administrators, business, academics, and the public online and through reports and scholarly books. Issues studied include crime and justice, children, education, healthcare, economy/taxes, welfare, housing. Web site contains research reports, journal articles, Congressional testimony, commentary, press releases.
