Stocks

COMPUSTAT data files are produced by Standard & Poor's Institutional Market Services. The principal contents of the data files are the items reported by companies in standard financial reports, such as quarterly and annual income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Both current and historical data are available. This file should only be used for research projects that require data on large numbers of companies. Compustat can be accessed via Wharton Research Data Services (WRDS) and requires registration.

CRSP, The Center for Research in Security Prices (CRSP), from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business, maintains security data for the NYSE, AMEX and NASDAQ stock markets. CRSP can be accessed via Wharton Research Data Services (WRDS) and requires registration.

Datastream BU Only is available on the Census workstation in the Online and Data Services Office of Bartle Library (inside the Government Documents room). This is a statistical database which covers individual equities, stock indices, interest rates, and more. Datastream covers both U.S. and foreign markets and has historical data for most equities.

Factiva BU Only
To access stock data, go to the top of the page and click on Companies/Market. Current and historical stock prices are available, both in table and chart format.

LEXIS-NEXIS Academic Universe: Company Financial Information BU Only
Click on Business, then Company Financial or SEC Filings.

Thomson Research BU Only
This contains 10Ks, annual reports, proxies, 10Qs, 20Fs, etc., for U.S. and international companies. There is a separate section for price and earnings data. Formerly called Disclosure Global Access.

Bloomberg
Contains daily information on market news, world indices, commodities, etc.

Holt's Stock Report
A daily report on stock market activity, going back more than 3 years. Data is more for the market as a whole, rather than individual stocks.

Historical Quotes
Historical stock quotes via Yahoo! Also has historical data on dividends.

Hoover's Online IPO
Provides information on IPOs (initial public offerings) filed electronically since May 6, 1996.

RedHerring.com (Formerly called StockMaster.)
Has articles on the market.

Reuters Stocks
This useful site, (which requires free registration), has extensive information on stocks and funds, including company information and analysis.

TheStreet.com
Stock site which contains current news and information, commentary, and personal finance tools.

Yahoo! Finance
Yahoo!'s finance site, featuring current information on markets, stock performance, earnings, indices, mutual funds, and more.

Zack's
Provides stock quotes, top trades of the day, etc.
