Present a series of "character genealogies" which show graphically the close
interconnections between over 4000 characters according to the Shuowen Jiezi
and subsequent research by traditional etymologists. With search functions,
vocabularies, online readings, and Pinyin chat.
Chinese Characters Dictionary Web
Interlink major Chinese character dictionaries on the web at character-to-character
level, allowing users quickly jumping across dictionaries to check the same
character. A unique function is to add definition links to each character
in free Chinese etexts (works best in Windows with Netscape).
Lin Yutang's Chinese-English
Dictionary of Modern Usage (*recommended)
Based on the 1st ed. of Lin Yutang's work (published in 1972 by the Chinese
University Press), this web dictionary comprises a total of 8,169 head characters,
together with 44,407 explanatory entries of grammatical usage and 40,379 entries
of Chinese words or phrases. Include Radical, Pinyin, and English index. Search
only by Chinese characters or English.

Online Chinese-English dictionary
Developed by a small non-profit organization, the dictionary integrated 2
publicly available dictionaries (Unihan 3.2 & CEDICT) into one user-friendly
interface. The unique functions are "Flashcards" (one-by-one character description
