Abstract
In 1965 when Padraic Colum agreed to sell to the Library of the State University of New York at Binghamton the notebooks, manuscripts, galley proofs and letters that were in his apartments in New York and Dublin, neither he nor the University had much idea of the scope or importance of the documents involved. He wished to make available to scholars of Irish literature and history whatever resources he could, and to throw light upon his own creative process. The publication of this catalogue should give to literary critics and scholars some indication of the range of material available in the Binghamton Collection. I have arranged the material so that play manuscripts appear first, followed by notebooks, typed manuscripts, printed material such as galley proofs and page proofs, miscellaneous material, letters and pictures.
