| I
need to find an article about...
Ask for help at the Reference
Desk. They can suggest an index in which
you can search for articles on your subject. You can also click on metaLINK
to get to a list of databases arranged by topic.
I can find the magazines related to
my topic and flip through them, can't I?
That really is the hard and long way of doing it. Trust
us! An index can help you find the articles much faster.
My professor
told me to read this particular article...
Check to see if it is on Reserve
first. Electronic reserves are available on BlackBoard, but some items might be located at the Science Information Services Desk or the Bartle Circulation Desk.
What is a journal?
It's a publication with scholarly articles
written by experts, as compared to a magazine, which is written for
the general public. For more information, see What is a Scholarly Journal?
What is Get
it@BU?
Get it @ BU is a service that allows you to determine if any article is available
on-line through any of our databases, or if it is available in the Libraries
in paper form. For more information, see the Get
it@BU Help page.
How do I know
what magazines and journals the Libraries have?
You can search by title in infoLINK,
the Library
Catalog. Just make sure you search for
the title of the magazine or journal, and not the title of the article.
Can I find my
article online?
Maybe, maybe not. While a lot is available online,
it's not even close to everything. If you know the name of the magazine
or journal, check to see if it is online by using our Find E-journals feature or checking infoLINK.
I can check magazines
and journals out, right?
Magazines and journals cannot generally be checked
out. You can make photocopies
of articles, though.
