Wellcome Trust, the UK's largest non-governmental source of funds for biomedical research, recently launched its Medical Journals Backfiles Digitisation Project. Wellcome Trust is working with the Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC), and the National Library of Medicine (NLM) to digitise the complete back-files of a number of important and historically significant medical journals. On completion, this project will deliver over three million pages of medical journals to PubMed Central, the US National Institutes of Health (NIH) full-text, life sciences repository.
