New Institution formed by the IEE and IIE
The IEE (Institution of Electrical Engineers) and the IIE (The Institution of Incorporated Engineers) have formed a new institution called the Institution of Engineering and Technology.
As a result, the IEE Review has now ceased publication, the last issue is Volume 52, Number 3, March 2006. IEE Review has been replaced by a new monthly magazine, Engineering & Technology which will be available through IEEE Xplore and the IET Digital Library (formerly known as the IEE Digital Library).
All Conference Publications/Seminar Digests published after March 31, 2006, will be known as IET Conference Publications and IET Seminar Digests.

Two new IEEE journals online
"The first issues of "IEEE Computational Intelligence Magazine" and "IEEE Transactions on Information Forensics and Security" have been published and are now available online through the IEEE Xplore digital library.
Computational intelligence is defined as a multi-faceted discipline dedicated to the shared knowledge of design, theory, development, and application of biologically and linguistically motivated computational models. The first issue of "IEEE Computational Intelligence Magazine"
includes features on Evolutionary Computation and Evolvable Hardware.
"IEEE Transactions on Information Forensics and Security" will cover related fields such as digital rights management, content identification, transaction tracking, surveillance, networking, law enforcement, and legal and ethical issues. The first issue includes papers on human identification based on facial animation and signature verification, among others."

Special issue of Proceedings of the IEEE
"Physics, chemistry, advanced mathematics and engineering science are all needed to design relevant biological and physiological models," write the editors of this month's issue of "Proceedings of the IEEE" (v. 94, no. 4).
The papers in this special issue are intended to survey the major perspectives on integrative physiology, and to show that "tissue, organ and system functions are as important as molecular and cell functions in defining a more global picture of living systems and, eventually, of patients." The issue is now available through the IEEE Xplore digital library.

Science Library renovations update
Soon, work will start on renovating the Science Library so we can bring you an information commons similar to the one in Bartle Library. We will be re-carpeting areas of the first floor, installing new furniture, and eventually adding new computers. The first stage of this work is to dismantle the red shelving under the skylight and in the reference area. These shelves contained older reference materials that have been moved either to the Library Annex or to the circulating collection on the Ground Floor. For more information, please contact Alesia McManus, Head of the Science Library.
