Impact Factors for BioMed Central Journals
BioMed Central, an open access publisher, has received Impact Factors for 37 journal titles. Nine titles that received their first Impact Factor in June 2006 placed in the top 10 of their 2005 Journal Citation Report category. Genome Biology, for example, received a first Impact Factor of 9.71, placing it in the top five of research journals in the Genetics and Heredity field. Malaria Journal, with a first Impact Factor of 2.14, is number two in the Tropical Medicine field. More information about the new Impact Factors is available here.
As of April 2005, all SUNY four-year and university and health science center campuses are enrolled as BioMed Central (BMC) members. The membership was made possible by a generous two-year grant from the Joint Labor/Management Committee made up of members of United University Professions, the Governor’s Office of Employee Relations, and a subsidy from the SUNY University and Health Science Center Libraries.
Until March 2007, SUNY faculty, researchers, and students may submit an unlimited number of research papers to any BMC journals without incurring article processing fees. Additional information on BMC can be found at the BioMed Central website. For information about Binghamton’s membership, please contact Ed Shephard, Collection Development Officer, or Alesia McManus, Head of the Science Library.

Update on Electronic Resources
In addition to the database changes mentioned previously, we are pleased to announce the addition of Factiva, a resource for business and news information. Factiva includes thousands of news sources, among them The Wall Street Journal, as well as company profiles and industry, trade, and other professional journals.
Additional databases have been added as part of the SUNYConnect initiative: ERIC, Film & Television Literature Index, Medline, the Military & Government Collection, and the Professional Development Collection.
Finally, several databases have been renewed on different platforms: EconLit and RILM Abstracts of Music Literature are now available via Ebsco; Philosopher's Index is now available via CSA; and INSPEC is now included in Engineering Village. All three platforms offer extensive searching options, faceted browsing, and the ability to search multiple databases at the same time.

Improvements to E-Journal List
Users of the Electronic Journals page may notice some changes this fall. We've improved the journal holdings display, added a finer subject breakdown, and included an ISSN search in addition to the familiar title search options. The page is now updated more frequently, so new titles will be added to the list much more quickly than in the past.
There's a new URL, too, so if you have bookmarked the page, please take a moment to visit it and update your bookmark.
