Hip Hop Conference in Ithaca
Cornell University and the Ithaca community are planning a Hip Hop Conference for Fall 2008.
Save the dates: October 31 & November 1
Confirmed speakers/guests include: Afrika Bambaataa, Grandmaster Caz, and Joe Cuzo, with more to come.
This conference will celebrate the arrival of the Hip Hop Collection, recently acquired by Cornell University Library's Division of Rare and Manuscript Collections.

Books for Africa Seeks Donations
Students, faculty and staff may donate used textbooks to the Books for Africa program. Books can be dropped off in the residence halls, CIW library and the Off Campus College office. Scholarships for Peace & Conflict Studies
The Rotary Foundation announces a call for applications for the 2009-11 Rotary World Peace Fellowships (RWPF) and January and June 2009 Rotary Peace and Conflict Studies (RPCS) Program sessions. The deadline for completed applications to be submitted to the Rotary Foundation for these sessions is 1 July 2008.
The Rotary Centers for International Studies program offers fellowships for master’s degree study fields related to peace and conflict resolution. Beyond academics, Rotary World Peace Fellows also gain practical skills in conflict resolution appropriate to their individual careers.
Up to 60 Rotary World Peace Fellows each year enroll in the six Rotary Centers based at leading universities in five countries: International Christian University, Japan; Universidad del Salvador, Argentina; University of Bradford, United Kingdom; University of Queensland, Australia; University of California-Berkeley, California, USA, and Duke University and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA.
The Rotary Peace and Conflict Studies Program is a professional development program held in Bangkok, Thailand, through which up to 30 participants embark on three months of intensive study instructed by some of the leading specialists in the peace and conflict resolution fields. The specialized curriculum has been crafted to capitalize on the experience of both participants and lecturers while balancing theoretical and practical learning.

CFP: Undergraduate Conference at Columbia
The Columbia University Center for the Study of Ethnicity and Race presents our Annual Conference: Race and Ethnicity in America and the World
Undergraduate Student Conference
Call for Papers/Abstracts
The conference is open to undergraduate juniors and seniors in all disciplines in New York City and surrounding areas. They are invited to address the broad range of questions that bear upon the ideas and ideologies of race and ethnicity in America and the modern world. We are looking for papers that deal with the art, lives and experiences of persons of Latino, Afro-American, Asian and Native American descent within North America and beyond.
The conference will take place at Columbia University on May 2 and is designed to give undergraduate students an opportunity to showcase their work and experience in presenting it. Abstracts and proposals will be accepted
until April 8th. Accepted presentations will be notified by April 11th and drafts will be expected by April 24th .
Submission Guidelines:
Abstracts should be submitted, along with your contact information (name, institutional affiliation, department, e-mail address) to cserconf08@gmail.com using the form below or as you wish. Submissions should be 500 words or less and must be submitted as a Microsoft Word document.

CFP: BU International Innovation Fund
The newly established Lois B. DeFleur International Innovation Fund has launched its first round of competition for grants, in the amount of $2,000 to $5,000, to be awarded to any member of the University community (faculty, staff, or students) before the end of the Spring 2008 semester. Brought into being by President Lois B. DeFleur's contribution of the Harold R. McGraw Jr. Prize in Education she received last September plus additional contributions from prominent BU alumni, the Fund will support projects in line with the "comprehensive internationalization" to which BU has been committed throughout President DeFleur's tenure as President beginning in 1990.
Project Dates: Begin as early as June 1, 2008 and end no later than August 31, 2009. Due Date for Proposals: April 15, 2008. For award criteria and application details, see the Call for Proposals.

Africana Studies Assistant Professor Ephirim-Donkor has an article in the most recent issue of the Journal of the American Academy of Religion.

CFP: "Translation: Empowerment, Employment, Enjoyment"
With a theme "Translation: Empowerment, Employment, Enjoyment" Binghamton University's Translation Research and Instruction Program (TRIP) invites translators to celebrate the University's new downtown campus, the College of Community and Professional Affairs, at a festival June 20 and 21, 2008.
