Professor Sticca Honored for Gift of Rare Books
By Beth Kilmarx
In August, a reception was held in Special Collections to honor and thank Professor Sandro Sticca for his recent generous gifts to the department. Professor Sticca has donated two rare, valuable multi-volume editions to the Libraries.
The first is a five-volume set titled Storia della Filoso, which is edited by Nicola Abbagnano. It was published in Turin by Unione Tipografico-Editrice Torinese in 1969.
Professor Sticca has given this set in memory of his mother.Only seven other academic libraries in the country own this edition, including Johns Hopkins and Harvard.
The second set is Il Codice Atlantico della Biblioteca Ambrosiana di Milano by Leonardo da Vinci (detail below). We are the first institution in the country to own this beautiful three-volume facsimile.
