Avoiding Plagiarism
It is important to always give credit for ideas obtained from sources you have used in your research. If you do not cite the sources, you may be guilty of plagiarism. The University's Student Handbook, under the heading Academic Integrity and Student Academic Honesty Code, clearly informs students that plagiarism is a form of academic dishonesty. The following resources will help you avoid inadvertent plagiarism and provide links to proper citation guidelines.
- Plagiarism and Academic Integrity - explains how to avoid plagiarizing and details when you have to cite.
- Citing Sources - contains examples of how to properly cite resources. It includes online style guides and provides the call numbers for the style manuals in the Bartle and Science Libraries.
