General Social Software Policy
Binghamton University Libraries defines social software as any web application, site or account created and maintained by Binghamton University Libraries which facilitates an environment for library staff and library users to share opinions and information about library-related subjects.
As Binghamton University Libraries' vision statement indicates, the Libraries are committed to providing a welcoming environment for the creation and management of knowledge through innovative thinking, open inquiry, and collaborative partnerships. Comments, posts and messages are welcome on Binghamton University Libraries' social software sites, provided that they are courteous, respectful and accepting of personal and cultural differences. The following will be removed:
All social software sites affiliated with the Libraries will be regularly screened. All postings which contain any of the above will be immediately removed and the poster may be barred from posting any subsequent messages to the Libraries' social software sites.
Content posted on the Libraries' social software sites should also comply with the University's Computer and Network Policy.
By posting content, the user agrees to indemnify Binghamton University Libraries from and against all liabilities, judgments, damages and costs (including attorney's fees) incurred by any of them which arise out of or are related to the posted content. Forums and messaging may not be used for commercial purposes or for organized political activity. Comments or external links posted on social software sites do not constitute an endorsement by the Libraries.
If any user does not agree to these terms, they are not to use the service, as violation of the terms can lead to legal liability.

Users may submit pictures of the Libraries to firstname.lastname@example.org
The text in the body of the email will automatically become the caption below the picture and subject line of the email will become the title of the picture.
Pictures are automatically kept as Private on the Flickr account until a staff member reviews the picture and modifies the privacy setting.
Users may include his/her name and contact information if they would like to maintain rights to the photographs.
By posting images, you consent to allow the Libraries to use your images on their web site, associated web sites, and in other communications including, but not limited to, promotional publications and presentations. Also, be advised that we can not prevent the unauthorized downloading of any images you may submit, so by submitting your images, you agree to hold the Libraries and its agents harmless for any unauthorized duplication.
Users should respect Binghamton University Libraries' General Social Software Policy as well as Flickr's Community Guidelines.
