I Need a Computer!!

February 6, 2009

"The computer is logged out, but someone's stuff is at the desk." We hear this comment a lot! Someone "camps out" at a computer to hold it while they do other things.

Please be advised that we have a policy to deal with this problem. if you leave your computer unattended you may lose your seat, especially if others are waiting for a computer. To allow for fair and equitable access to our resources, staff are authorized to remove personal belongings from unattended workstations. Belongings that have been removed may be retrieved from Lost and Found at the Circulation desk.

See the complete policy.

It's Crunch Time! Help Us Help You

November 25, 2008

At the end of the semester the Information Commons is busier than ever. To help make the IC environment conducive to productive school work, please be considerate of your fellow students and observe the following:

  • Save recreational computing for another time or place. Computers are needed now for academic work.
  • Keep noise to a minimum. It makes it hard to concentrate on that paper your neighbor is working on.
  • Please don't bring food into the Library - covered drinks are OK. And PLEASE clean up after yourself. We all have better things to do than pick up someone else's trash, right?

Bartle Library Information Commons to Expand

July 14, 2008

In September 2008, finishing touches will be completed on the expansion of the Bartle Library Information Commons. Additional computers, printers, and scanners will be available in the most popular student computing facility on campus. The Bartle Library reference collection has been shifted to make room for a new arrangement of computers featuring the highly popular furniture currently used in the Bartle, Science, and UDC Commons. A walk-up computer bar, additional express printing workstations, and printer islands to improve access to student printing are part of the expansion. Additional computers and study space will be available on the 2nd floor mezzanine above the Information Commons.

Please take a few minutes to fill out a survey that will help us improve your experience in the expanded Information Commons.

Duplex (Double Sided) Printing Pilot

May 8, 2008

The Bartle Information Commons is testing duplex (double-sided) printing. Look for the "Double Sided Printer" sign in the Reference Room side of the Commons. Releasing your document from this printer will result in it being printed on two sides automatically. If you need to print on one side only, release your document from any other printer. Your quota will be charged as if you were printing on one side.
